This weeks WIIW is a sneak peek at a blog entry Toni Wallace is finishing up.  Blog entry will be posted later this week, but for fun and prizes I thought we could open it up to you all for some guesses.  I have four hints lined up and ready to go, so let's get to it!

Hint 1

WHAT IS IT?!?!?!?!?

Guess correctly at Hint 1 and you will receive a bundle of promotional items for the new statewide effort to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Ponce de Leon's discovery of La Florida and 450th anniversaries for St. Augustine and Jacksonville.  Click on the Viva Florida logo below to learn more about this program.  And of course the Spanish Colonial Heritage Trail guide.  Materials developed and distributed by Florida's Division of Historical Resources.

PRIZES! Viva Florida note pad, pencil, bookmark, card and Spanish Colonial Heritage Trail Guide.

Congratulations to our winner Branon who replied on the blog last week!  You are correct, is it a black powder pistol recovered last summer by LAMP.  Branon, email Amber your contact info to claim Viva Florida prizes!

For more information on the pistol and the Storm Wreck discovered by LAMP, check out the Keepers Blog on the St. Augustine Lighthouse web page OR Check out the St. Augustine Record article from last month.

  1. Theodore says:

Body (shoulder) painting of Florida Indian

  2. Close! Think about what would be the subject of the blog. Not human shoulders, but...??? Will post another hint tomorrow but let's give Theodore another chance! We appreciate the guess:)

  3. Not a tattooed shoulder, that was my first impression too. Perhaps it is an eye from a Timucua owl like the one on display at Fort Caroline NM.
