We had this photo sent in from our friends at the GTM-NERR for identification- have a couple ideas but nothing solid.  Found on the muddy beach next to Shell Bluff Landing next to some old dock pilings.  Edges are beveled on one side, the other side is concave.  Let's help Emily Jane and our NERR friends out!

WHAT IS IT???

Artifact is heading to the state for proper care and conservation.  Location was cleared to post.

A shallow serving vessel? With a short handle.

Looks to be part of a turtle shell. It's not bone?
