The Who's Who of early Osceola pioneer days.
Rose Hill Cemetery in Kissimmee, Osceola County is an historic cemetery dating to the late 1800s and is still in use by the community today. Rose Hill is the final resting place for many early pioneer families as well as their descendants. The markers represent a large swath of U.S. history from Spanish American and Civil War veterans to notable early Florida politicians.
Who: Operated by the City of Kissimmee Parks and Recreation Department
What: An excellent array of markers from the late 19th century to today.
When: Open daily from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm.
Why:
- Nearly 9,000 interments and counting providing an excellent example of change in marker style and form over time.
- Rose Hill is also the final resting place of U.S. congressman William J. Sears.
- Many veterans of the Civil War and the Spanish American War.
- Family plots of area founding families.
